The Sundarban is a vast complex of intertidal and estuarine areas situated on the border of India and Bangladesh where the Ganges, Brahmaputra, and Mehgna rivers converge in the Bengal Basin. Sundarban means "beautiful forests," but the region may also have been named after the large number of Sundari trees that grow there in the salty coastal waters.
The area provides nursery grounds for many species of fish and invertebrates, including exploited species such as tiger prawns.
Despite the heavy use of the forest for timber, pulpwood, and fuel wood, the Sundarban continues to support a diverse fauna of 35 species of reptile, over 270 birds and 42 mammals - including the last population of tigers inhabiting mangroves in the world.
We have the pleasure to inform all of our well-wishers ,members, patrons, volunteers, donors and donor agencies that some days back we think to save the sundarban and It's people under the great supervision of Samajkalyan,a group of NGOs,India. All active NGOs of this area was associated with this single platform to solve the problems of Sundarban.
Sundarban,in the southern most part of West Bengal,is one of the most under developed and backward areas of the country. The region suffers from serious lack of proper and easy communication, lack of amenities of human survival, including health and educational facilities.
We need support from our all visitors from India and worldwide .Please communicate with our team and send your valuable support.
